Tender Hearts Childcare Awarded Hero Relief Grant

Gove County Medical Center - Tender Hearts

Tender Hearts Childcare Center recently received two grants.  The Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) and Child Care Aware of Kansas announced the Hero Relief Program. The DCF received funding through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and partnered with Child Care Aware to distribute the funds to child care providers in Kansas. This funding is to be used to provide Hero Relief Program grants to licensed child care centers and family child care programs impacted as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.  This program was also announced by Governor Kelly.

Tender Hearts was awarded both a Supply Grant of $1500 and a Sustainability Grant of $500 per month that will continue to be distributed from March 2020 through August 2020.  All Kansas child care centers and family child care programs, were eligible for these non-competitive grants.

Tender Hearts remained open during the state-wide shutdown.  The childcare center is a benefit to the employees of GMCC and continued to serve as a childcare provider for essential workers remaining at work while many of the staff stayed home.  The funds will assist with supplies and replenishing lost revenue due to low attendance during the shutdown.

Congratulations Tender Hearts and thank you for being essential to our essential workers during the pandemic.
